Overview

Onest has conducted this survey among the general public, using exclusively online channels. Onest collected 228 responses in the period Dec 5 – Dec 11.

The survey was mainly targeted for young people, with 60% of respondents being under 30 years of age. 60% of respondents were male.

The aim of this survey was to understand the pizza consumption patterns and behaviours of the general public in Malta. With this project, we acquired insight on what  people in  Malta enjoy – and how they like to eat their pizzas. This is a taster to the limitless understanding and highlighting of customer interactions that is applicable to various businesses & industries.

Preferred Pizza

Starting off with their pizza preference , when respondents were polled about their one favourite pizza, 22% of respondents chose Pepperoni pizza, followed by the Capricciosa pizza.

Survey respondents were asked for their top three favourite pizza toppings. The king of pizza toppings is pepperoni (49%) with mushrooms in second at 42% and onions at 30%.

When asked about their worst choice for a pizza topping, pineapple was selected by 35% of respondents. Other hated toppings included seafood (21%) and jalapeno peppers (15%).

Consumption Behaviour

Notably, people in Malta prefer to drink non-alcoholic beverages with their pizza. The most popular beverages paired with pizza are soft drinks and water, with 38% and 19% of responses respectively. Beer leads the alcoholic beverages with 17%, closely followed by white wine and red wine.

WHAT IS THE PERFECT DRINK TO GO ALONG WITH PIZZA?

When respondents were asked how much time it takes them to eat a pizza, 54% claimed that they can eat a pizza within 15 minutes. 28% of respondents spend 15-20 minutes finishing their pizza.

The respondents prefer to eat pizza with their hands (75%) rather than using a fork and knife. Breaking down the results by gender, there was no difference between male and female choices.
